SweetThorn is once again a proud partner at The Eventful Group’s 2017 Mastering SAP Conferences in Johannesburg.

Some time ago a client asked me to prepare a list of risks associated with not getting SAP’s MRP working as intended. In the time it has taken to get us to the point where fixing MRP is now a priority, many of these predictions have come to fruition.

Almost a month has passed since this year’s Mastering EAM event in Johannesburg. Despite challenging economic times, the event was well attended, which shows that the need to learn and network can surpass the need to tighten our belts. As always The Eventful Group put on an awesome show, and as always, I am inspired by the experience to blog about what I took away from the conference.

I recently ran an SAP Procurement Optimisation Bootcamp, where the question of lead-time reliability once again came up. As is the norm, most delegates felt their lead-times are inaccurate, unreliable, inflated with all sorts of buffers and at very best, generalised.

I have been talking at The Eventful Group's Mastering SAP conferences since 2009, both here in South Africa, and in Australia. I thoroughly enjoy contributing to these events and I am looking forward to the upcoming Mastering EAM conference in Johannesburg (23-25 May 2016).

The old adage: “the only constant is change” has most probably never been truer than in today’s economic uncertainty. Amid constant calls to reduce operating costs and improve profits, purchasing departments will be challenged to do things differently – centralise, decentralise, rationalise, even outsource.
